The good
If you sign up for 3WayLinks, you will spend about 15 minutes total on building your links. All the rest is automated. The 15 minutes you do spend will be to set up your .php link or resources page. It must match your sites header and footer.

Now, don’t freak out, there is a great user contributed video that outlines exactly how to grab the code and make your php page. You don’t have to know html or anything. I can put it all together in about 10 minutes now. Here is my 3WayLinks.net resources page.

From there, your site will be up for review. It takes only 2-3 days to get an answer back. After approval, about 8 links are added a day until you reach 250. You can watch your rankings improve through their desktop rank checker. At a single glance, you can see how all of your sites on the 3WayLinks system are ranking.

But, does it work?

Absolutely. I watched a site that was extremely nichy go from about 50 page views a week to about 500 page views a day. The one thing I changed was adding a 3WayLinks.net resource page.

The bad
Not necessarily bad, but annoying to me. I understand the reasoning, but was bummed I was rejected. Here’s the story.

I wanted to do a friendly little site for astrology love signs. You know, what sign works with what other sign. When I tried to add my site into the network, I was refused because astrology is considered a religion.

So, for all of you out there who are into non-family-friendly sites, get your links somewhere else. Including astrologers. According to Jonathan Ledger, no adult, gambling, warez, hate, or religious sites are allowed in the network.

You also have to have at least 2 pages indexed in Google before your site will be considered. I usually put a site together, upload it, and within a few days, am already indexed.

The Ugly
OK, I’m not gonna lie. The subscription is pricey. $47 a month gets you access, by my simple math, to 12,500 quality one way links (if you use all 50 sites allowed in the network at 250 links per site). Do I think it’s worth it?

Well, building reciprocal links is hard, and time-consuming. I have spent 3-4 hours a day sending out slews of requests for reciprocal links and got zip back in return. My time is worth money. For about $1.60 a day, I will gladly pay for a subscription to 3WayLinks.net and have my links managed for me. This gives me time to think of more profitable investments. And writing blogs like this one!

1.) What’s your main keyword?

If you are to the point of coming up with a domain name, you have probably come up with a theme for your website. Let’s say your theme is tennis racquets. Have you thought about keywords yet? What is your main keyword that you want to use to drive people to your site?

For our tennis racquet example, we will use our main longtail keyword for tennis racquet which is tennis racquet reviews (note: this is not a great niche keyword, for example only).

2.) Hyphenate It

Now that you have a longtail keyword chosen, as long as it is not ridiculously long, hyphenate it. So, in our example, we will now have our potential domain name as tennis-racquet-reviews.com.

This actually serves two purposes. First, it is easier to read by humans. Your potential visitor can see right away that this is a site about tennis racquets. Second, it is easier for search engines to decipher.

3.) Try to get a .com if possible

You know there are a bunch of extensions available, .com, .net, .org, .tv, .info, .gov and the like. However, the one most coveted is the .com. It is the most widely used and recognized.

If not available, try .net. It is the second most recognized. Realize that some people expect certain extensions to identify with a specific type of website. For instance, .org is mostly used with non-for-profit organizations. And, .info is usually an information-based website.

4.) Keep it simple

Hard to spell, hard to pronounce or misspelled domain names will make it difficult for your traffic to find you again. By keeping your domain name simple, you will be assured that your visitor will find you again and again.

5.) Register for more than one year

Search engines, especially Google, want to make sure you are not setting up a spam site. If you register your website for more than one year, you are telling the search engines you believe in your site and intend on creating something meaningful.

It’s tedious, right? Finding your bookmark or typing in the URL for ezinearticles or any of the hundreds of article directories out there. Then you have to navigate through to find the proper submit article or author login link. Then trying to remember your username and password. Then copying and pasting the title, then the summary, then the article content, then your resource box information. Woo. After 20 minutes, you finally hit submit and have to start all over.

If only there was a better way.

Well, there is, of course. There’s a couple of better ways.

First, you could hire a company to submit artcicles for you. Over at Article Trader, they will submit your article to 357 article directories for only $14 per article. You buy credits via Paypal or Credit Card, and they can submit the articles under your own account (you have to provide the usernames and passwords) or their account.

It’s a good option. Especially if you are short on time. To submit articles manually to article directories takes a ton of time. Fourteen dollars for 357 directories is a steal.

But there are some drawbacks.

One drawback, you lose some control over the category selection. If the subject of your article is something like, article submitting software, and your submission is put under the category, business, well, that’s just not good enough. You want it placed under something more in line with Search Engine Optimization or Link Building, or at the very least, Internet, right?

Another drawback is you lose your ability to edit the article later; or see stats for the article if you choose to use the article directory’s username and password.

If your pan is to become an aggressive affiliate marketer, you will be writing and submitting tons of articles to market your website. You are in it for the long haul, right? If you crank out 5-10 articles a week, paying someone to submit articles for you could become REALLY expensive.

In this case, article submission software is not just a luxury, it is a must have. Here are five points to consider…

Since content is king, your time is best served creating content for your sites. Any extra time you can save is time you can be using on some other way to promote your business.
